bhOgyAmrutam - Introduction

Happy Vijaya Dashami to all of you. From this very

auspicious festival, I will be posting to you a series

called BhOgyAmrutam. This work was accomplished by my father,

Sri Venkata Narayanacharya over a period of exactly 2 years

with the blessings of our beloved AchArya His Holines Sri

Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami.

 

Introduction :

It would be really sweet to experience the thousand names

of Lord Sriman Narayana by coupling their meanings with

the divine songs of AlwArs in praise of the supreme Lord.

And this is what is precisely addressed by this work named

‘bhOgyAmrutam’.

 

As a part of this work, each name in the ViShNu sahasranAmam

was interpreted using one divya prabandha poem. The striking

aspect was that the selection of a poem was arbitarary and

it used to give a very nice interpretation to the name under

consideration. All this was carried out by the SrI pAdams of

our AchArya, HH Sri Tridandi Sriman Narayana Ramanuja Chinna

Jeeyar Swamiji.

 

Also, the names of sahasranAma were split based on the stars.

For example, the first 4 SlOkAs of sahasranAma represent the

first star (ashwini). The next to the next 4 and so on.

 

I am just translating them into english and posting them to

you. Kindly bear with any mistakes which I can commit in the

process.
