Sri Jeeyar TiruvaDigaLE SaraNam

vaShaT karOti iti = The one who has everything under His control.

Divya Prabandha poem : nAcchiyAr Tirumozhi - 3-1

Brief Interpretation with the poem: Leaving our clothes (divya dEhams) on the

bank, we have entered this pond (samsAram / World) in the dark (due to our

ignorance). You have kept our clothes with you. As the sun has come out, we can

come out of the pond only if you give us our clothes. By stealing our clothes,

you have kept us all under your control. So the name, 'vaShaTkAra' aptly fits

onto you.

Poem in English :

1. Before the hen signalled the morning.

2. We have come to take bath in the lake.

3. The ball like sun has dawned.

4. You are sleeping on the AdiSESha. We have strained ourselves a lot.

5. Never shall we come to this lake again.

6. I along with my friend, bow to you.

7. Kindly grace us with our clothes.

(To be continued)

Jai Sriman Narayana
