Guest guest
We have till now finished 70 slokas of the first sarga of Ba:la Ka:nda (Sankshepa Ramayanam). Now we are entereing 71 to 78 slokas Sri:mathe: Ramanujayanamaha! Sri: Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!! Sugreeva was made the king of Kishkindha. He too gratefully assembled all the va:nara:s and deputed them in all the directions in quest of Sitha. Those who were searching in the south were told by Sampa:thi, Jata:yu’s brother, that Sitha was in Lanka and if they cross the sea and go there they could see her. Accordingly Hanuma crossed the hundred yo:janas wide ocean. He reached the Lanka being ruled by Ravana. He looked for Sitha all through the night and traced her out in Asho:ka vana thinking of Rama alone incessantly. Hanuma delivered Sri Rama’s ring to her. He intimated her how pitiable Rama’s grief was. Hanuma consoled Sitha that Rama would definitely come there and rescue her. He destroyed the ‘tho:rana’ in the Asoka vana. He killed the five army chieftains who confronted him. He exterminated Jambuma:li and others, the seven sons of the minister. Hanuma pounded the valiant Akshakumara the second son of Ravana to death. At last Indrajith bound him down by Brahmasthra; but the asthra released its hold on Hanuma because of the boon conferred on him long back by Brahma himself. Still wishing to see Ravana, Hanuma preferred to remain so and went to Ravana’s court. He was led to the court hall by the soldiers and there he tried to educate Ravana to correct himself for his good and the consequences of his wicked behaviour and but in return his tail was set on fire and he with that fire, set the whole city of Ravana on fire. Sitha Devi was not touched by the fire. The most intelligent and diligent Hanuma came back crossing over the ocean, approached Sri Rama and informed him, “drishta: sitha:” He politely did pradakshiNa to Sri Ramachandra and intimated him the prized news and made him happy. To be continued…. Jaisrimannarayana! Ramanujamma Mudumbai, Ramanuja Dasi
