Guest guest
Sri:mathe: Ramanujayanamah! Sri:jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!! (slokas 95-98 of sankshepa Ramayanam of Valmiki) Sri Ramachandra performed many krathus. He donated several crores of cows to brahmins; established hundreds of kingdoms of royal dynasties. He enforced the people of the four castes to observe their dharma properly. Thus SriRama would rule his kingdom for eleven thousand years as ‘Bhagavad upa:sana’ and leave for his brahmalo:ka that is Paramapada. Thus Narada briefly narrated the story of Sri Ramachandra in reply to Valmiki’s question. Now sage Narada is explaining to Va:lmiki maharshi the greatness of SriRamayan, “ This is holy, wipes off the sins, confers punya and is equal to veda:s. All those who read Ramayana will be relieved of all their sins.” That, which cleanses the blemishes and purifies either a country or a place or people is said to be holy. When Veda is recited, the rajas and thamas sticking to one’s mind would be removed by its ‘Sabda Sakthi’(power of sounds). All the sins will be washed off. Sri Ramayanam is on par with Vedas. So just by reading Ramayan, its power eliminates rajas and thamas and eradicates the papas. So it is 'holy' means a purifying element. 'Pa:paghnam' means remover of pa:pa:s. Papas are those which hamper one’s progress to reach the punyalo:kas, thwart one’s efforts to attain Bhagavan, and spoil the scope to enjoy the comforts in this world. When one suffers in this world due to his earlier birth’s pa:pa, if he repeats some manthras, the effect of that papa would be nullified and he would get some comfort. Similarly, if one reads SriRamayanam either fully or atleast some sargas, the papas that do not allow him to be happy in this world and the papas that would obstruct his progress to attain the A:nandaswaru:pa Bhagavan' to enjoy the permanent bliss will be eradicated. For those who have brahmajna:na, they say, the sanchita papas and a:g:mi papas will be eradicated. Sri:ra:ma:yanam has such enormous power. There is no doubt to state that those who read Ramayana daily will be relieved of their ‘pra:chi:na papas’ and attain Bhagavan. Vedas ordain one to practise some particular things to attain and enjoy some upper lokas, That is called punya (good karma). The bliss one achieves with the right practice, with the acquisition of jna:na, and with the ardent bhkthi can be attained by Sri:ra:ma:yanam alone.
