Sutra 98:

"ayanam" means He is the refuge of these (nithya vaSthus).

 

Sri PBA Swami's Sarartha Deepikai:

Here on the meaning of ayana term is explained.

 

ayanam stands for Asrayam - that is, Narayana is the refuge for the nAras.
