Asmad gurubhyo namaha, Jai Srimannarayana

Each one of us has the privilege to attain God. But one needs a qualified Guru

to instruct the proper procedure. They will only reveal our relationship with

Sri. Guru will keep away the jealousies and the hatred that we naturally inherit

because of the influence of Prakruthi. The association with the acharya has to

be there even after one achieves moksha, Upanishad reveals this secret. The

association at this stage helps in enhancing the nitya kainkaryam to the Lord.

It is very difficult for one to have belief in the capacity of acharya who is

like us, very human to look at. Veda asks us to do upasana on the ka:rana

tattvam. But this tattvam is neither obvious nor visible. Hence Upanishads

recommend worshipping lord in the visible form of archa murthi and acharya.

Svetha:swatharam Upanishad says the amount of devotion one would have on lord

should be there on one’s acharya also. When we see someone in front of us, who

is accessible, we tend to look down on him. Chaturmukha Brahma himself had this

weakness. Once when Brahma saw young Krishna having breakfast with all other

cowherd boys he felt “what type of God Krishna is!" He hid all the cows and the

boys and later realizing his grave mistake fell at Krishna’s feet repenting for

his act begging pardon.

Vigraha Aradhana is the first step. Some feel this form of worship is the first

step only and nothing is required in the last step. Andal clearly proves this is

wrong. Archa murthi is the first and the last! Andal did her vratham at the

archa murthi. This was fruitful. Gopikas believed Lord Krishna. This was

fruitful.

Though the form changes God’s value will never diminish. Even if we change gold

into ornaments the value of gold does not change. Andal clarifies in Tiruppavai,

one who can witness purnathvam and divyathvam in vigraham and in one’s Guru can

only be a blessed soul. Once we know this we will surrender to an acharya. Then

we will cross the boundaries of the external form and the exterior nature of the

acharya and we will experience acharya’s paramparaagatha tattvam.

Our ancestors taught us, “an acharya is a moving daivam”. Our acharya reveals

the purnatvam in the archa vigraha. So Andal worshipped Vatapathrasayi,

visiualized Lord Krishna, wished to attain Venkatesa, prayed to Sudaraba:hu

swami and married Sri Ranganatha. This looks crazy! But it is not. Here Andal

reveals to us, all the forms are that of Narayana Himself. Knowing this we

should also consider ourselves as ignorant women and visualize purnatha in the

vigraha (archa form) and the acharya. But never should we be egoistic.

Where can we try to reach Him? If you have purnatha, then the Lord will emerge

even from a pillar in front of you. In today’s pasuram Andal reveals – the

instructions of our acharya who has the Vedic knowledge will gift us the

purnathvam. In the last pasura they had asked for a mirror and a fan. They said

that they had to take bath along with swami. All of us should believe that there

is no other refuge other than the lotus feet of Lord. Today all of us are waking

up Krishna along with mother, Neela Devi.

Nandagopa is the acharya taking care and enjoying Krishna. An acharya teaches

Vedas, Vedangas and Sastras due to his benevolence. They roam in the jungles of

saastra grasp the essence and make it simple and give the milk of Bhagavad

gunas, saatvika jnana to disciples. Those disciples who receive the knowledge

are like the pots into which milk is milched. Just by asking they keep giving

instruction. Those who do not ask are at loss but not the gurus. Nandagopa is

the chief just like our Sri Ramanujacharya. Lord Krishna is with him. When we

mention our relationship of acharya, Lord will surely get up and come to help

us, anytime, everytime.

This is a special pasura in which qualities of a sadaacharya and a sishya,

paratvam of the Lord who will be obedient to the sadaacharya and the

‘naichya:nusandha:nam’ of chetana:s who take refuge in Bhagavan are illustrated.

We should have belief in Saastras. We should pay obeisance to SriVaishnavas. We

should thoroughly understand the philosophy, have our senses and manas in

control and totally surrender to an acharya. We should conduct ourselves in such

a manner that our acharya notices our qualities.

Andal thiruvadigale saranam, adiyen ramanuja dasaha

Jai Srimannarayana!
