Guest guest
Jai Srimannarayana! srimathe ramanujaya namaha, srimathe narayanaya namaha, We have to be extremely fortunate to attain Bhagavan. Some say that it’s only our fortune that results in attaining Him. Andal doesn’t agree to this. Once a jiva reaches Him, it seems Bhagavan thinks that it’s His fortune, luck and His happiness overflows. Upanishads reveal so. Andal reveals the same. Lord Krishna’s devotees do Saranagathi. They don’t seek anything from God other than Himself. Andal mentioned that only because Krishna declared that He would give a few things for those who do this vrata that they are asking. Of all paths the path to Krishna is the best. We should seek Him. The elders of the society have provided such facilities and means for Andal and group’s sake. We should become prapannas. Prapannas do not give up responsibilities and duties, which are to be performed. All duties need to be discharged in ‘nishka:ma’ manner. This will accelerate our journey rather than decelerate. There will be a few good outcomes due to this. Since we won’t seek the results, the good results will help in progress of the world and other devotees at the same time, they will not bind us. “Hey manivarna:! the immeasurable compassion you have towards us is being depicted by your radiance. Even if you want to hide your beauty it will still not let you hide”, says Andal. “Ok, ok what do you want? Did sastras ask you to do the margasirsha bath? What is the authority? Where in sa:stras is this advised?” asked Lord Krishna. Andal responds carefully, “Even in Veda it’s declared that respectable elders’ way of life is given importance and taken as authority. Even you, as SriRama, did not take Veda as the authority while saving Vibheshana. In Gita you told,- yadyada:charati sre:staha- We are following the path advised by our elders. Gopikas did not know sastras but the Chaturmukha Brahma who has read all the Vedas was humbled by the ‘a:charana’ of gopikas. Gopikas did this before. This is authority for us”. God sees for three things in his devotees: jnanam, bhakti, vishaya-vairagya. “I accept your vratam, Ask what you want!”, exclaimed Krishna. Andal says, “We want many milky-white conches similar to that of yours, the sound of which can reverberate in the entire creation.” Only swami has that pa:nchajanya. But Andal is asking for many. Andal is asking for His rupam. Bhagavad anubhavam is of two kinds: sa:ru:pyam, sa:yujyam. Two other kinds, sa:lokyam, sa:mi:pyam, were secured in the past. In this pasura Andal is asking for sama:na rupam. “Keep going, what else you want”, he asked in a playful mood so that he can escape saying ‘this is not possible.’ Andal continues, “we want parai, a big musical instrument; we want bhaktas who can sing mangalam; we want cluster of lamps; we want a flag similar to that of yours; we want a shield to protect from fog, snow;”. Here the shield refers to a:disesha. The white conch the sound of which reverberates and fills the entire universe is the essence of entire Vedas, which are apaurusheyas, the pranavam. The artha of this pranavam will destroy the deficiencies in our thoughts. The big parai, the musical instrument, is namaha. This brings purity. The singers who are singing mangalam are the alwars. The nitya mangala deepam, lamp is Lakshmi devi. The Garuda’s flag represents Vedas. The shield, cover is a:disesha, which represents selfless service. All these insignia signify sva:ru:pyam. After listening to all these Krishna says, “Sorry, another Sankha like mine! There aren’t any. So rest of the things are not plausible”. Andal pleadingly responds, “you swallow all the lo:kas- the entire srusti; you rest on ‘vatapatram’; you regenerate the entire srusti; how can you say granting these wishes is not possible? You can make the impossible, possible. Everything is possible with your grace. We do not know how you can grant our wishes, but your grace alone is something that is holding us. Saying so prayed Andal seeking six things and asking Lord Krishna Himself. Andal divya thiruvadigale saranam! Adiyen ramanuja dasaha! Jai Srimannarayana!
