Srimathe Ramanujayanamaha!

Sri Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!!

(Continuing 6th sarga)

In Dasaratha’s army, many horses of Kambho:ja origin were there. There were also

several horses born in the kingdoms of Ba:hli:ka, Vana:yu, and Sindhu.

Many elephants, mighty like the mountains of Vindhya and Himalayas, were there.

Elephants belonging to the race of Indra’s Ira:vatha were also there in Ayodhya.

There were also many belonging to the race of Pundari:ka; many born in the vamsa

of Anjana, God Varuna’s elephant; and several belonging to the class of

‘vaamana’, Lord Yama’s elephant. Generally, there are mainly three classes in

the elephants – Bhadramu, Mandramu, and Mrugamu. But due to their mixing - there

formed hybrid varieties of elephants called bhadra mandramu, bhadra mrugamu,

mrigamandram and bhadramrigamandram. Thus there were different types of

elephants in their army. They were always very vigorous. Thus their armies were

always strong with ‘gaja, thuraga and padaathi’ sainya.

That city of Ayodhya was true to its name. It was not conquerable by any one.

So it was called Ayodhya. As it was impossible for anyone to oppose and fight

against that city it was Ayodhya.

In vedas that name was referred for Vaikuntta, the dwelling place of

Srimahaavishnu. ‘Kuntta’ means one that will never be affected and altered with

any amount of pressure. It always stays the same. So it is called ‘Vaikuntta’.

It’s also called ‘Apara:jitha’. It denotes - it is not conquerable by anyone.

The capital city of Ko:sala ra:jya was referred by the

same name. To prove that the city was qualified in all respects for Bhagavan to

come down as a human being with the name Sri Rama - first that city and the

people there are described; and then the necessary qualifications for a human

being to achieve ‘pu:rnathvam’ (entirety) are established.
