April 2003 Vedic City Passes Resolutions Into New Laws ******************* http://www.radiovillage.com/news.cfm E-NEWS - Radiovillage, Iowa, USA Vedic City has now officially passed resolutions naming its official language, currency, a constitution, and an administration. At a City Council meeting yesterday, Sanskrit was formally approved as the official language of Vedic City after being named so in an earlier resolution. Sanskrit is an ancient language spoken mainly in India and areas in Asia. The controversial Raam for money is now the official currency for Vedic City, and each common Raam is said to be worth ten American dollars. Local financial institutions in nearby Fairfield stopped converting Raam after a problematic stint in 2002, and the money cannot be used for official Jefferson County business. The Central Bank of the Global Country of World Peace was unanimously approved as the official administrative entity in Vedic City. The Global Country of World Peace was formed as a borderless state late last year with Vedic City as a capitol, but the U.S. government does not recognize it. In addition to the other measures, the Constitution of the Universe, a principal taught by Transcendental Meditation movement founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, was formally adopted as Vedic City’s constitution. Vedic City was incorporated in 2001 by followers of Maharishi, the former guru to the Beatles. City officials have invited the mayors of all cities in the world to start their own meditation programs in an effort to create peace and improve their cities.
