Guest guest
Srimathe Ramanujayanamaha! Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!! There were two main puro:hiths who were rishies – Vasishttha and Vaamadeva. Those, who can envisage the whole universe as His Divine body and render service as service to the Lord, have no desire for wealth or wants, have regard for the welfare of the king and the well being of the society, and those who consider protection of dharma as their sole duty should become puro:hiths. VaSishttha and Va:madeva were such two important vedic ritual authorities. There were some more like Jaabaali. There were some more ministers other than the above mentioned eight. The qualities normally required for the ministers are discussed here to show that they possessed these. Earlier we came to know about the king’s qualities from Dasaratha’s description. Now we learn about the ministers. 1. First ministers should be well versed in sa:sthras. They should not be undereducated. 2. One who errs should hesitate to commit such mistakes again. 3. One has to be very capable in promoting truth. 4. Should have the power of restraint in enjoying the pleasures of life. 5. Should be naturally rich so that they won’t crave for riches and commit grave mistakes. 6. Have the skill to foresee the things well in advance. 7. Well read in the necessary political science. 8. Should be equally courageous as the king. 9. Famous for their knack of tackling issues and in bravery. 10. Should be alert in executing the king’s tasks. (In the next posting...) Jaisrimannarayana! Ramanujamma Mudumbai, Ramanujadaasi.
