Guest guest
http://www.chinnajeeyar.org/agamasadas.htm Scholars of Sri Pancharathra Agama and Vaikhanasa Agama from famous temples have come down to VARIJA, Visakhapatnam to discuss various subjects and practices in the temples according to Sasthras. A number of issues that they need to know to face the changing scenario in the modernisation of the society were also discussed. HH Sri Swamiji and all other scholars are conducting the discussions referring to various Samhithas and age old practices and also the Stthala Puranas of respective temples in conducting various rituals. Wonderful facts as revealed by Sasthras in regard to Manthras and their practical implications in conducting the Uthsavams to Lord were discussed. ---- Some remarks: The challenging problem to all the scholars of Vedic System is the increasing interference of unqualified Government officials in the ritualistic matters of the temples. Instead of taking care of the administration and looking after the proper conduct of all the rituals, they are trying to change the age old traditional systems in view to increase the income of the temple. On many occasions none of them are aware of the knowledge of the traditional texts and also the history of the temple in which they are the officers. Priests are being forced to follow the anti-traditional and unacceptable methods in conducting the rituals. However, priests who are now made the employees are forced to obey the uneducated temple officials. Otherwise, they have to suffer for their livelihood. Where a temple suffers fall, there the society suffers in all ! It is sad that many officials of the Government are treating temples as income centers rather than as the Divine abodes. They are thinking of converting the temple shrines into picnic spots in the name of tourism development. Instead of preserving the sanctity and purity of those temples, instead of focussing the ancient wisdom and the human values in Divine service, most of the temples are now cladding themselves with the modernism and a blend of atheism. Most of the officers don't know that the Temple is a religious institution and not a Pseudo - secular organisation. The income of a temple that needs to be spent in developing the temple and that tradition, is being diverted by Governments for various non-religious and other purposes in excessive proportions in the name of public service for which these funds need not be used. However, Nature is so wonderful guardian, it keeps the check on those who act cleverly with the wealth that belongs to God, in a manifold way. Usually it affects the responsible policy makers. One should realise, apologise and rectify by oneself, or should suffer the consequence. NO ESCAPE. There is no place for our own interpretation and/or our own like/dislike/advantage, for, the Sasthra is straight forward and very clear in revealing most of the practical aspects regarding temples. This scenario exists even in big and famous temples, which is being taken as an advantage by many other anti-elements of the society. A temple is a public place of worship, where one can rejuvenate his spiritual energy, renew the inner strengths and thus render the regular duties with more perfection, in the society. This leads to harmonious living and living in unison. Agama is a science that defines what to do and how to do in regard to any temple. Let us not violate it ! Let's see that it is not violated by anybody. It is for the good of all, no matter whoever it is ! Sarve: jana:s sukhino: bhavanthu ! ---------- " O ' Wise Man awake ! It is time to act according to Sasthra. If not... You Need to Suffer in this life and also in the lives to come. Your Contribution to the society will make a real difference. Don't become the victims of business tricks and ostentatious attractions. Your negligence and ignorance will throw you into sufferings. Worship your own, respect all. Realise and Respond ! ---------- We welcome your comments and any of your experiences. You may send by email or by post to our contact addresses. Guest guest
Namo Narayana! Everything that Chinnajeeyar Swamiji is saying is true. What do we do? What can we do? What is the next action? In this regard, there are many political groups active in India and claim to be vedic abhimanis etc hindutva etc but are against temples etc These organizations are our immediate threat and their arguments against arca and temple worship must be diluted. All three Acharyas have supported and actually installed temples and Tamil Saint has said Kovil illa uurum paz (meaning without temple society will decay) adiyen has no doubt. But many well meaning bagawathas fall into their traps quite easily. It is the duty of every veda abhimani and hindu to love and take care of temples with love. -- RK
Guest guest
Dear Webmaster: The topic you have rasied is one that has been dear to my heart especially during the past couple of years. I was witness to the Agamam change in the temple near Chicago (Aurora, Illinois) just a few months back. Here, the initial consecration was done about 15 years back per pA'ncarAtra Agama. About six months back, the Agama was changed to the vaikhAnasa Agama. It is my understanding that this is in violation of SAstra-s. However, the sad experience I had was that the vaishNava community members who were devotees of the temple, were unwilling to unite and raise their voice against the Agama change. Most likely, the wealthy officials who control the temple administration would not have changed their minds, but it pained me that the vaishNava community was unwilling to unite and rasie concerns actively about the violation of SAstra-s. I have my own personal opinions on the source of these initiatives for changes in Agama-s in some of the U.S. temples, but I assume that the conference of the learned sadas will get into the issues of changes in Agama-s in general. -dAsan Krishnamachari > A:GAMA SADAS > http://www.chinnajeeyar.org/agamasadas.htm
