Guest guest
Jai Srimannarayana! We recently bought a house in the US and I can tell you that we found it difficult to follow all vaastu rules. Since we could not meet all criteria we looked for a few main things. 1. Kitchen should be in Southeast (agni) and we should face East or West while cooking. We could not find a perfect southeast cornered kitchen but it is pretty close and i face East while cooking. 2. Masterbedroom should be in Southwest corner. 3. You should have your study and pooja room in the northeast corner and you should face east while doing pooja. 4. Typically house can face N, NE, or E depending upon what suits you (see your or your partners horoscope) You can do a google search for Vaastu and you will find many resources. If you want to follow all of the Vaastu Shastra you should think about hiring a custom builder and building the house per your plans. Good luck! Guest guest
Jai Srimannarayana! Namaskarams to ALL! I also have a qurey regarding the Vastu-- the topic that this Digest raised. In my opinion, Vaasthu needs to be followed only till the extent of having good ventilation, good drainage and better organisation-- but how far is it good to follow some rules like the number of doors and windows-- where many so-called-vaasthu-experts give work-arounds like "have an arch, instead of a wooden frame for the door" or "have an Iron frame instead of wooden frame" and so-on? This is just a small example-- there are many such flaws in the Vaasthu- not allowing it to be adopted as a full scientific system. SrimadBhagavatGeetha says "ananyaaSchintayantOmaam yejanah .........". Then why do we need to worry about vaasthu? We just need to follow a few basic things, ans leave the rest to HIM. This is strictly my opinion and I would request any other points of view, both supporting and contradicting mine. -R Ramakrishna

While we can follow vAstu and astrology to certain extent, we need not worry about their mystical aspects like future consequences etc., since we have PerumAL with us. If SrImannArAyaNa wants to protect us, He will do it even if our house is completely against vAstu and we have entered in a durmuhUrtam. If He does not want to protect, we cannot prevent something happening even if the house is constructed following vAstu 100% and entered on a very auspicious day. SrI yAmunAchArya says in "tvadanghrim uddiSya" SlOka of stOtraratna - all that is inauspicious goes away as one does a namaskAr to His feetany time and in whatever way and all that is auspicious blossoms. For us, any moment we are able to think of Him is auspicious and so is any house or place. adiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan Vishnu
