The order was made by a bench comprising Chief Justice Devender Gupta and Justice G Rohini on a public interest writ petition filed by Giri Yadav, a resident of the city who complained that the fund was being released at the instance of the China Jeeyar Swami. The petitioner referred to the ongoing battle between the China Jeeyar and senior pontiff of Kanchi Sri Jayendra Saraswathi. Senior counsel S Ramachandra Rao dubbed the Jeeyar Swami a blackmailer. He pointed out that the government had also allotted land to the Swamji in violation of the Coastal Regulation Zone. He also complained that the trustees of the TTD had abdicated their duty to the institution and were acting at the instance of the China Jeeyar.
