When the seers are in this experience they have uttered these words " Tat Tvam Asi" form their experiences. Prakash Kamath
Guest guest
Hi Reddi, Sandhya is the sanskrit word that denotes dawn or dusk - sun rise or sun set. In the context of nitya karmas, it denotes sandhyavandanam (and people shorten it to sandhya), denoting worship that has to be offered during sunrise/sunset. This is based on kalpa sUtras attached to a particular veda ( and hence people belonging to different vedas usually have different format and mantras for performing sandhyavandama). Om tat sat - I don't know much about this. 'Tat' means 'it' in sanskrit and 'sat' means 'good'. Om is praNavam, of course. Tat tvam asi is one of upanishadic mahAvAkya that occurs in chAndOgya upanishad of sAma vEda. The other mahA vAkyas are - 'prajnyAnam brahma' from aitarEya upanishad of rig vEda, 'aham brahma asmi' from brhadAraNyaka upanishad of shukla yajurveda and 'ayamAtmA brahma' from mAndUkya upanishad of atharvaNa vEda. Thanks & regards, KK , Ugender Reddy wrote: > can anybody explain what is Sandhya. and om tat sat tat tvam asi > Thanks
