Priya Bhagavad Bandhus !

Jai Srimannarayana !

MANGALASASANAMS ON THE EVE OF TAMIL UGA:DI

"PUTHTHA:NDU VA:ZHTHTHUKKAL "

14th April 2004 is Tamil New Year's Day. We offer our Mangalasasanams to all

Tamil Bandhus on this auspicious occasion. There is a popular saying " senthamil

" basing on certain distinguished features Tamil language has. It binds people

together in the way of expression of every human emotion in a most touching

manner. Tamil segment has wonderful advantage of beautiful language features

that made the traditions flourish for long periods and also served protecting

the spiritual needs of the society.

Many realised souls like A:lwa:rs and Acharyas of Srivaishnava Tradition and

also Nayanmars of Saiva Tradition etc., have all glorified the Spiritual

resource of the Vedic tradition and ancient traditions of our great sages.

Tamilians have the major role in protecting the Spiritual lineages and

Traditions of our native Bharat, inspite of so many invasions and damages caused

by many foreign rules and rulers.

Even today, if there are some good spiritual/ traditional programmes going on

anywhere, it implies that there will be Tamilians behind who will be playing the

key role in such activity. This type of commitment and active nature is a boon

to the Tamilian community.

Blessed Experiences with Lord were originally presented in Tamil by great

devotees during their life time. Some of them were recorded by the disciples to

remember the event again and again and preserve the treasure of such experiences

for the benefit of future generations too. Recognising the glory and importance

of Tamilian culture and traditions, the Great Socio-Spiritual Reformer Bhagavad

Ramanujacharya extolled many such Divine experiences to the seeking devotees and

elevated them to the higher levels of Spirituality.

One who is spiritually strong will automatically have the Social Concern and

commitment to the noble cause. Thus, moral standards were improved and more

spiritual activity flourished in the Tamil country. With the Divine wish of

Lord, Acharya Bhagawad Ramanuja facilitated certain Tamil Prabandhas that

greatly and easily escalated people to the higher levels of spirituality. He

gave them equal status as that of Holy Vedas in Temple worship, for, these are

more easier and direct essence packs that exactly Vedas ordained, which easily

inspired Divine spirit, to all those who chose to traverse on the path of

purposeful living.

Thus, Tamil Prabandhas have become more popular in offering worship to various

forms of Lord. This made Lord more happy and the rich Divine experiences

multiplied resulting in wonderful responses actually felt by the devotees.

People started realising the Divine experiences from Tamil Prabandhas and were

blessed to adopt them in their temple worship. As a result of this, select

Prabandhas of Tamil medium have been chosen as an equal counterpart of Vedas by

many a scholars and devotees to worship Lord in manifold ways. Bhagavad

Ramanujacharya opened up doors for this and strived to spread the divine

fragrance to all the seekers of Lord.

A devotee loves Lord and serves Him with greatest gratitude and humblest heart.

Whatever is the service, it becomes His worship. If this Love and affection are

not a part of worship, such a worship even when done as Sasthras prescribe will

yield very limited results and when they become a part of worship, then every

small activity becomes a great service that gives glory to the devotees and

makes the devotees more alert and fruitful in establishing great human values in

the society, motivating them to inspire all around them to take the path of

Divine Bliss.

If there is any language that is being more used at par with Sanskrit in doing

all the spiritual activities, that is Tamil only. In Northern India, people

chant sthothras and sing songs but there is no religious sanction for many of

them. But, select Tamil compositions in traditional system are having religious

sanction, that makes the Tamil a distinguished language. This "Yugadi" day is an

auspicious occasion for all such Tamil Bandhus. May you enjoy this occasion with

all your friends and relatives.

We offer our Mangalasasanams to you all to be blessed with rich commitment and

wealth to realise the " Divine Joy " by distributing and sharing it with all

other Bhagavad Bandhus.

Jai Srimannarayana !
