Srimathe Ramanujayanamaha!

Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!

(13th sarga #3)

In that manner after the collection of the necessary paraphernalia, procurement

of the yaga bhumi and performing the santhi karmas the horse has to be left.

With the horse Adharva has to go guarding the horse with one hundred men of

royal kin, Udgaatha with one hundred ‘Sangrahithas’ Brahma with one hundred

Ugraas and Hotha with one hundred rural su:tha:s. After one year passes thus,

the king and all the rithwiks go together to the venue of the yajna (yajna

bhu:mi) In the first vasanta rithu it is the starting of the yajna. In the

beginning of the second vasanta rithu it is arriving at the ‘yajna bhumi’ which

is called ‘Devayajanam’. The starting of the yajna would be with the performance

of ‘Brahmoudanamu’. From then on till the conclusion of the Aswamedhayajna the

‘yajamaani’ (sponsoror) should not act independently on any thing. The ‘Adharva’

would arrange for everything. Here Vasishta was the ‘Adharva’. When the first

year ends and before the second year commences, on the last new moon day of the

first year three rituals – Ukhaasambharanam, Tridhaathaveeyam and DeekshaNeeyam

– have to be performed as part of Devayajanam only.

To be continued...

Jaisrimannarayana!!
