Aug 10. The State Government's decision to stop the construction of Mahaprakaram and restore the demolished `1000-pillar- mandapam' in the same place were it existed was hailed by the Chittoor district unit of the BJP (East) which met here today with its president, S. Subbarami Reddy, presiding to discuss the issue. It said the Government had the responsibility in preserving the ancient and heritage structures in their pristine form as they were symbols of the nations our culture and ethos. The party president, B. Chandra Reddy, and the publicity secretary, K.R. Raja Reddy, in a statement, recalled the several instances when it had to hold demonstrations and dharnas and submit representations to TTD authorities to stop the demolition of the ancient mandapam.
