Guest guest
Q) What for was the sprawling 1,000-pillar mandapam utilised for years? Is the thousand pillar mandapam just a decorative structure in front of the temple? Misleading distorted and wrong Answer from TTD & Vaikhanasa Peetham president Madambakam Krishnaswamy Srinivasa Bhattacharya] It housed the following: Tirumala One Town police station, rest room and toilets for police personnel, office of the circle inspector (law & order), crime sleuths station, hotels, supermarket, photo studios, electricity department rest rooms, rest room for temple drummers and armed police personnel, counters and cash chests of various banks, museum, employees’ canteen and 30 other shopping establishments. It had nothing to do with the temple’s customs and rituals. The Truth in brief] According to vaikhanasa agama sastra's “SILADHIKARAM” AND “YAGNADHIKARAM” it is mentioned clearly and specifically where the mantapam should be located. It is wrong to say that the mantapam was not used for any religious purposes and is simply standing there. In the inscriptions by King Saluva Narasimha Raya, available now, it is mentioned that Pavitrotstavam for Lord was held for five days in the mandapam. Perumal used to come and stay there for 5 days. Also during Ka:rthika Masa Dwaja Rohana was done here. Diffrent types of prasadams that need to be prepared along with the measurements have been clearly described. What more certification does the place need to get the religious sanctity. ___________ Let us protect our culture and heritage! Let us not allow anyone to destroy our culture and heritage!
