Guest guest
Press Trust of India Vijaywada, September 6 Asserting that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad was not lying "low" on the Ayodhya issue, its international President Ashok Singhal on Monday warned that a "cyclonic storm" would be blown any time on the issue as the oufit was bracing itself up for the future. "We are only waiting for the court's decision as the opposite party had told the court in a petition that the structure was built on a plane site at Ayodhya, but the excavation has proved otherwise," said Singhal, who was in Vijaywada to participate in Krishna Pushkaram festival. He said Hindu religious leaders and saints especially from Tamil Nadu, were "worried" over the happenings in temples and wanted all Hindu groups to be united to unanimously decide crucial issues. According to Singhal, the saints were worried about conversion of Hindus into Christianity and Islam by luring poor people. Citing the example of Tirumala temple, he said even the mismanagement of temples by the government staff was a cause of concern. On the demolition of the mandapams at Tirumala temple, he alleged it was done without the knowledge of the Hindus, with a sole motive to help the temple administration. "Tirumala cannot not be changed into a tourist centre and it would be against the interest of the Hindus," he added. Singhal alleged there was mismanagement of temple funds at different places including Tirumala and the lands allotted for temples were being misused. On whether he supported the construction of the mandapam at the same place where it existed, he said the government had already agreed to it.
