Guest guest
Jaisrimannarayana to all! (Taken from Sriman T.P. Sriramachandracharyaswami’s Siddhaantha Kusumaalu) Five types of wisdom Man is different in the whole creation. He is different from all other beings. He has strong hands and legs; has strong organs. He possesses the capacity to express his notions and feelings in a language which others lack. Not the language alone. He is endowed with a proper thinking pattern. A man knows so many things- he has ideas, gives solutions, capable of clever actions, can take shrewd decisions. He can crawl into the underworlds. He can fly to the outer horizon of space. He can touch the deepest points of the oceans. He can climb onto the highest points of earth. All these are true. Being able to achieve so many things what has he achieved? Are they alone form his goals? Then even the birds and animals are living. Trees and shrubs are also growing. They are ending their lives. These are withering away. Man is also doing the same. For all the special gifts of mental prowess he owns, is this the ultimate end? Only this? No. It should not be. He is blessed with the precious life of a human being. He should make it worthwhile. Make hay while the sun shines!! Man should know many more things for all his intelligence. Among them - what he should know to lead the life of a human being and make this life meaningful and worthy – are said by our gurus. A human being should know five things. 1. Who am I? (The explanation is called ‘swa swarupa jnanam’) 2. There is one Almighty. (This knowledge about him is called ‘para swarupa jnanam’ ) 3. What means would enable us to attain that Paramathma? (This knowledge is called ‘upaaya swarupa jnana’) 4. What benefit do I derive if I attain Him? (This is ‘phala swarupa jnanam’ ) 5. Who are our enemies that are hindering us in attaining Him? (This wisdom is called ‘virodhi swarupa jnanam’) These are the five things a human being should know. We shall know a little bit more about these five points of jnana in the next posting.
