Guest guest
Humble Pranam to all Devotees: ======================================== Swami ManavalaMaMunikal: Lords Acharya - Part IV ======================================== Questions that will come to some devotees mind. 1. Why did Lord even want to come as a Sishya? 2. Does he need a Acharya? ======================================== Why Lord Ranganatha has taken the role of Sishya? Why in Srirangam? ======================================== Background: SriRangam is considered as head quarters for all the devotees of the Lord. All the Alwars were deeply involved in Srirangam and all great Acharyas settled in srirangam and spread Srivaishnava (Sri Ramanuja) philosophy to the world. For, Srirangam is the first Archa (Srivigraha to be worshipped by human beings) in this Universe. In our sampradhayam, three mantras are very important: 1. Thiru mantram: =========================================== This one was given by Lord to Lord in Badarikasramam. Here Lord Sriman Narayana has taken avathara as Nara Narayana. Narayana, as Acharaya and Nara as sishya, This initiation of The Great Ashtakshari Manthra, ie., thirumantra upadesam started here. 2. Dwayamantram: ============== This one was given by 'Lord' Narayana to 'Sri' Lakshmi, in paramapadam. 3. Charama slokam: ================ Lord Krishna reveals this manthra to the despondent Arjuna, amidst two war forces, to put him on the tract to render his responsibility. This is found in Srimad Mahabharatha, in Bhagavadgitha. ========= PS: Side Note ================= We, as devotees should try to learn and understand the meanings of these three Mantras. To enable us to understand this better our purvacharyas have written Ashtasloki (Svami Parasara Bhattar), Mumukshuppadi (Svami Pillai Lockacharya) and RahasyaTrayaSaram (Svami VedantaCharyan) and many more granthas. ======================================= While delivering Thirumantram to the world, one question arises Why Lord has taken avathara as nara (sishya) as well?, Swami Pillai Locaacharaya explains this in Mumukshuppadi. HE wants to show the practical part of the qualities of a sishya to the world. Qualities of a Shishya, are shown in scriptures, at a great length. But there were/are hardly anyone, who really stood out as a role model for all the faithful public. There were some ideal sishyas, but only a few sections/groups would accept them. For universal acceptabilty the LORD himself had to come. ==================================================== =>He Himself wanted to take the disciple part, to set an example to the world, and to be a Role Model Sishya. =>Nara Narayana avathara was so long ago and yugas have passed, people wanted/needed another example to learn from. => In Kaliyuga for the samsaris learn and understand, about 570 years ago, Lord takes the Sishaya role to teach us the qualities of a devotee. Even today, after the LORD showed us the way, people who are not aware of this Avathara and LORD teaching, are still questioning and seeking some more examples. So it is understandable that about 570 years ago lord took the Sishya role to teach us the Samsaris. =>Lord in this age, presents Himself in the form of Vigraha Swarupa only. He shows, how He Himself becomes a sishya to a great Acharya. Hence HE has adopted swamy Manavalamamuni as Acharaya in Archavathara. ================================================= Next Article Lord's Acharya - Part V: Lord teaches the qualities of sishya to the world. Why Mamunigal has Adisesha as pitham (Seat), same as the Lord?
