tsunami - that wiped out many lives

Jai Sriman Narayana,

This is no condolence mail to the victims of the tsunami yesterday.

I just was wondering about life after watching what happened yesterday..

Because - We visited a beach near bombay yesterday and in the morning my friends

who were playing in the sea commented to me - that "There are not enough

powerful waves in the sea. The went far into the sea, but the water was only

knee deep".

And somewhere else on the other shores - Lives were being wiped out by the all

powerful sea.

All morning yesterday - We were playing cricket on the beach, unknown to the

horror that fellow humans were being subjected to.

Only yesterday night, when we returned from the trip that I got the news and

switched on the tv to see piles of dead bodies with folder limbs and horrified

last expressions on their faces.

And the so called great researchers had 3 hours of time before the quake

activated tides hit the Indian shore. They gave an excuse saying that - this is

the first time that India experienced this kind of a thing.

Life is so temporary - isn't it. While we know this fact - we are all afraid of

the pain that we (and our fellow beings) may have to undergo - when we have to

depart.. That pain might be for seconds or hours or days or.. - but this kind of

a horror - none of us are ready to die in this way right?..

We can do nothing except to pray for the recovery of the victims and their

relatives.

And we need to remember the fact that tomorrow it might be one of us, because

someday or the other we will have to face it.

And so - even if some pain has been inflicted upon us, - we need to thank God

for all the good days we had - where we got plenty of food and comforts and also

for today - which has been good so far.

It might be because of our good karma - that we got the comforts and due to bad

karma that we suffered. But all these comforts are given and maintained by God.

And sometimes He is merciful enough to give us more than what we deserve. So

while it might be our good karma that gave us comfortable life till today - we

need to thank the giver who created all these comforts and manages them.

Because, we see that even after deserving efforts in this world, people do not

get proper remuneration or benefits from their employers. God is True. If you

deserve, He will give it.

And also, lets learn to take some pain in life because we do not know - what

pain awaits us in future.

Lets hope for the good of everyone including ourselves - but be prepared.

And lets not forget to thank God for the good days we had and for the bad days

also - because His judgement is sometimes ruthless, but in a recent mail - Our

Swami vaaru said that - its also for the good of the soul. So, though we are

angry with the bad things of our lives - we need to remember that there are

those - like these victims - who were swallowed by death and suffering in few

seconds.

The truth is we are helpless. And we have no choice except to depend on God and

His decisions.

While this question - of why this system is like this -- always bothers me - I

again remember that - this system is like this and I am helpless and so - given

this span of life - first thing I need to do is - accept the facts..

However - I am pained by the way - death has pounced upon these poor victims in

many countries and have no answer for their pain and I cannot search reasons for

it. - Nor can I question God..

Just I pray - that let everyone be happy as long as they can - and let them have

strength to face the sufferings that are due to them..

And as I finish this mail - I have to go back to my work.

And while I posed as a great person once again in this mail, I know for sure

that I will go home today and watch the deaths of the victims and related news,

while sipping tea in my drawing room. And in a few days I will forget this

incident and continue to live my life as if it was for ever.. But this is how it

is.
