Jai Srimannarayana!

The effect of Tsunami has taken thousands of Human life and damaged property in

several countries. In India both Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh have taken the

toll. Several thousands lost their lives and several people lost their

properties. This damage is mainly for those who are living on the seashores.

Several organizations have taken up the challenge to help the victims. Food,

water, clothing, medicines etc. are being provided. Government is looking into

the housing aspects. JET is also actively taking part in this tsunami relief

activities. Our Vikasatarangini volunteers are already distributing the basic

immediate necessities to the victims. JET is planning to provide medical camps,

clothes, food and boats (Catamarans).

To make the fishermen start their livelihood as early as possible, JET is

looking into various options, promising one so far is helping with boats. Most

of the families that live on the seashores use boats for their living. Wooden

boats would cost about Rs 20,000 each (US $500), but life of this boat is couple

of years, new fiber boats which have long life cost about Rs 1.5 lakhs each, to

purchase these boats in a volume is very costly. To make best use of the

resources JET is looking into the service and renovating the repairable boats

that were damaged due to salt seawater. There are several thousand boats that

could be repaired very quickly and put them to use. Repair costs are about Rs

10,000 each boat. To repair about 2500 boats it would cost about US $50,000/- .

These boats will help them in their daily living in the long run.

Your generous contributions are much needed to provide these basic

life-sustaining items. Please make your checks to JETUSA Inc. and mail them to

JETUSA Inc., 4330 Pinelake Dr., Naperville, IL 60564. In the check memo please

indicate “JET Tsunami Relief”.
