Guest guest
Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha! Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!! Aswamedham is a very a complex yajna, very difficult to be undertaken by ordinary kings. It removes one’s sins and leads one to heaven. After the completion of such great ritual, Dasaratha offered salutations to Rishyasringa and requested him, “You please have to conduct an yajna for the continuation of our vamsa.” Rishyasringa agreed to the proposal of yajna and assured him that he would get it done and the king would be blessed with four sons. (15 th Sarga:) Later great sage Rishyasringa contemplated on the matter and suggested Dasaratha to perform an Ishti, prescribed in Adharva veda to beget progeny and made him commence the Ishti to get his wish fulfilled. Oblations were being offered in the holy fire as enjoined in the sasthras. All the celestials were there in the venue to receive their share of oblations. Gandharvaas, Siddhaas and rishies were also present in that congregation. Then the Devathaas spoke to Brahma thus, “Heh! Bhagavan! With your blessings, Ravana is tormenting us all with his intrepidity. We are inefficient to oppose his courage. You have granted him the boon of ‘no’ death by anyone. Respecting your boon we are tolerating all this torture. He is getting set to unseat the highly placed celestial functionaries, the celestial king Indra and the people of all the three worlds from their positions. With his blown up egotism gained with the power of your boon, Ravana is torturing the rishis, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras and the Brahmins. When he goes out into the hills for a pleasure ride, the sun - god is controlling the severity of heat of his rays and is following him. The winds are blowing finely so that the flowers in his gardens do not drop on the ground. The Sea-god, characterized by his ever flowing waters and waves is keeping still with fear. We are praying to you to suggest a strategy to eliminate him." Jaisrimannarayana! To be continued.... Ramanujamma Mudumbai rd.
