Plan of Propagation of Sri KoorathAlwar’s Panchasstavams

 

The 1000th Anniversary of Sri KoorathAlwar, the prime sandal among the disciples

of Sri Ramanuja, is to be in 2010, and in commemoration of the millennium of his

advent, it is planned to take in sacred procession of the SATHARI of his Holy

Feet, upto Kashmir and back, to the accompaniment with chanting of the DVAYA

MANTRA and its significance.

27.02.2005 Sunday, 2.PM to 4.PM, KOORAM (Kanchipuram District).

 

In preparation for the celebration of Sri KoorathAlwar’s millennium, the above

sabha is training men and women in the chanting of the compositions of the

Panchasstavams of Sri KoorathAlwar, those of Sriramapillai and Vedacharya

Bhattar. The training is given in Srirangam, Kanchipuram, Thiruvahidirapuram,

and in Chennai. Every month on Hastham, a group of fifty vaishnava devotees will

go to KOORAM and chant them to the bearing of Sri Alwar. As a first step, 2000

copies of the books for chanting are to be printed and distributed free.

 

The sabha plans to make a Sathari of Sri KoorathAlwar’s holy feet and take it in

procession via Sriperumbudur, Chennai, South and North India covering all the

Divya Desas hallowed by the visit of Sri Alwar.

 

The sathari will be taken to the houses of all vaishnavas those who are

desirous, should chant Panchasstvam. The local sabhas will be entrusted with the

responsibility of carrying the Sathari.

 

The holy journey will commence at 4.00 P.M on 27.02.2005,and after covering all

the houses in Kanchipuram, on Panguni Utthiram day (23.03.2005), Sathari will be

offered at the feet of Lord Varada to theaccompaniment of the chanting of

Panchasstavam. The sabha has also proposed to keep the sathari in Sriperumbudur

from 15-04-2005 to 23.04.2005.

 

In addition, every month on the day of Hastam, Panchasstavam will be chanted at

Kooram at 2.00 P.M. Vans are arranged for the transporting the devotees.

 

Finally, The Sathari will be return to Kooram on the (Millennium) celebration of

the Tirunakshatram of Sri Koorath Alwar’s.
