Guest guest
Srimathe Ramanujaya namaha! Jeeyar Thiruvadi gale: Saranam! Yajna is very important in a human being’s life. Yajna means ‘Bhagavada:ra:dhana’, worship of Bhagavan. The purpose of yajna is worshipping all the devathas as His Divine Body and receiving the grace of Bhagavan who dwells as Antharya:mi. One’s love should flow onto everything in this universe without any discrimination. The means to attain this state is practice of karma (action). When those karmas (actions) are performed without desire, the filth collected till now in the manas by the actions done with ego and attachment would be wiped off. Unless actions are not done in the proper manner, jnana would not dawn on him. One would not know one’s own nature. Unless this knowledge comes up, the realization –‘I belong to Bhagavan alone’ – will not come. Dasaratha had performed the yajna perfectly and acquired the necessary state of mind for this realization. Bhagavan favoured such Dasaratha to be his father and before taking incarnation, Sri Mahavishnu appeared in His original form before the devathas in the yajna congregation. Yajna is the only ‘sadhana’ to boost the sathwik ways of mind and reduce its ‘asura’ nature. ‘De:va’ is a name for senses (indriyas). The head for the indriyas is ‘Indra’. All those have a share in the yajna. By performing the yajna, our mind and indriyas get elevated and experience comfort. That is what the devathas receive as their share in the yajna. Among those devathas who assembled there to receive their shares in the yajna, there arose a discussion on - the tactics to conquer the manas - a strategy for Ravana’s elimination! Brahma gave the explanation. Sri MahaVishnu came down there to tell them that He had to come down as ‘Nara’ (human being) to kill Ravana. We notice a special incident in Rama avathara which is unique for this incarnation. Prior to Krishna Avathara, the celestials had been to the milk ocean to pray to the Lord. But in the Rama avathara, SriMahavishnu himself came down to the congregation of the celestials at the yajna of Dasaratha to inform them that he would come down as ‘nara’. (To be continued...)
