Guest guest
Srimathe Ramanujayanamaha! Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!! There was divine payasam in that gold vessel. It was covered with a silver plate. The yajna purusha came up holding the vessel in his two hands as if holding his dear wife. He told king Dasaratha, "Recognize me as the 'nara' from the prajaapathi." On listening to him Dasaratha at once joined his hands in salutation and asked, "Heh! Bhagavan, welcome to you. Please order me what I should do." That Prajapathya purusha told him, "Heh! Rajan! You worshipped the devathas with Aswamedha and Pustrakaameshti rituals. They are happy and sent this to bless you. This has been specially made by the devathas. It gives you progeny. It awards you health, fame and prosperity. You give this to your queens and see that they have it. You will get sons in them as you wished." King Dasaratha was elated and took the vessel of divine dessert sent by the devathas, offered his salutations and went round him in veneration. His joy knew no bounds like that of a poor man who receives a shower of gold. Soon that yajna purusha vanished. The news reached the queens' palace. The whole palace turned jubilant and was glowing like the glittering sky on a moon lit night in the sarath rithu. Emperor Dasaratha entered the queens' palace with the payasam. Going to his first wife Kausalya he gave her half of that and told her to take it. She had it. In the remaining half, he gave half to Sumitra. She ate that. He gave half of the remaining (half of) to Kaikaeyi. Now one eighths of it remained. He gave that again to Sumitra. As per the rule the second wife should get lesser than the first wife and the third should not get more than the second wife. Hence he gave half to Kausalya, one fourth and again one eighth to Sumithra and only one eighth to Kaikeyi. So Kausalya and Kaikeyi got one son each and Sumithra got two sons because she ate the payasam twice. They soon conceived and were glowing with the 'thejas' like the fire god and the sun god. At last Dasaratha got peace of mind seeing his queens and was sure his sons would definitely be great and was very happy. (To be continued.....) Jai Srimannarayana! Ramanujamma Ramanuja daasi.
