Sri Raghunandana Parabrahmane Namaha!

Srimathe Ramanujayanamaha!!

Vedam expounds the fact that yajna alone is the means to achieve these

purusharthas. Hence Dasaratha performed yajnam and got children. When all our

actions (karmas) are carried out as yajna, they will fetch us dharma, artha,

kaama and finally Moksha.

Because of the yajna Dasaratha got sons. Among his four sons SriRama is the

embodiment of dharma. "Ramo: vigrahavaan dharmaha" Rama is the personification

of dharma itself. Dharma is delineated by Veda. Rama is the vedave:dya Bhagavan

Himself. Hence he had established how to follow dharma through his practice.

Artha and kaama too are purusharthas. Even they need to be sought and obtained.

They are twins, born to the same mother as two children at the same time.

Lakshmana and Satrughna are the twin brothers born to Sumithra. Artha and kaama

emerge from rajo:guna dominated nature. These two are together like twins.

When there is wealth there are sure to be desires and vice versa too. Bharatha

is moksha. Moksha is not just leaving this body and going to some higher worlds

but living in this body with no distinction of "I" or "Mine" and realizing that

everything is Bhagavan and He is making me do things - that give him happiness

and can be done as His service and "my dharmam is His" service and He is

getting it done by me. Bharatha ruled the kingdom, which did not belong to him,

as SriRama's representative by installing Srirama's Padukas on the throne and

believing himself as their earnest servant. He is the king who is not a king!

This mode of life, we should all learn in life. This alone is Moksha.

(To be continued....)

Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!

Jai Srimannarayana!!

Ramanujamma Mudumbai, Ramanujadasi.
