Guest guest
Sri Raghunandana Parabrahmane Namaha! Srimathe Ramanujayanamaha! Sri Mahavishnu alone was taking incarnation through the payasam from the three queens in four forms. In some puranas it is mentioned that Laksmana was the incarnation of A:dise:sha and the Sankha and Chakra were born as Bharatha and Satrughna. But in SriRamayana it is mentioned that Mahavishnu alone had come in four forms. Here there is a hidden secret to be known. The jiva in this body is known as "purusha". Having obtained a body it has to aim at achieving some fruits. They are called "purushaarthas". There are four purushaarthas namely: dharma, artha, kaama and moksha. How to achieve the dharma, artha and kaama is mentioned in the purva bhaga of the Veda whereas how to achieve the Moksha is explained in the uttar bhaga of the Veda. This body is a product of "prakrithi" which constitutes the gunas satthvam, rajas and thamas. The body has to be borne by the jiva meaning it has to be fed and borne by the jiva. Hence body is likeed to "wife" while atma to "husband". Since the body abounds with the sathvam, rajas and thamas it behaves in three ways. In this story Dasaratha resembles jiva and the three wives Kausalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyei with different attitudes symbolize three gunas - sathvam, rajas and thamas. It is illustrated in this story - how anyone whoever gets this human body has to aim and attain these four "purushaarthas". Three wives and four sons indicate this secret here. It becomes very clear in the story that four children were born by taking the four parts of "payasam". In this life "purusha" means jiva in the envelope of a body. With this body resembling the three wives having the three gunas rajas thamas and satwam one has to achieve the four "purusharthas". Veda enunciates the sadhana a human being has to do to achieve the purusharthas. This alone is explicitly told in Sriramayana through "Rama charitha". (To be continued....) Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam! Jaisrimannarayana! Ramanujamma Mudumbai Ramanuja Dasi.
