Guest guest
'THE LIE DETECTOR' One day, two traders, Dhumal and Ravi, came to Birbal to settle a dispute. Ravi accused Dhumal with refusing to return the thousand rupees Dhumal had taken as a loan from him. Dhumal flatly denied that he had ever taken a loan from Ravi. Birbal knew that one of them was lying. But then who? He thought of a plan. He asked the two to meet him after two days. Next day, a man named Jayalal sold one jarful of butter to both Ravi and Dhumal. While melting the butter, Ravi found a gold coin. He promptly went to Jayalal and returned the coin to him. Dhumal, too, found a gold coin, but he handed it to his son. Next day, both of them met Birbal as had been planned. Suddenly, Jayalal too made his appearance, and asked Dhumal whether he had found any gold coin in the jar of butter given to him. Dhumal denied there was any coin in the jar. Birbal then asked Dhumal to write a letter to his son asking him to hand over the gold coin to Jayalal, who would take the letter himself. Dhumal hesitated, but Birbal insisted that he wrote the letter. Jayalal went to Dhumal's house and met his son. The boy gave the coin to Jayalal, who went back to Birbal and showed him the coin. Birbal was now convinced that Dhumal had told a lie and asked him to return the money borrowed from Ravi.
