Guest guest
Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha! On hearing Devathas words, Chaturmulkha Brahma said to them, "This whole earth and universe belongs to Vasudeva who eternally bears mother earth in the form of a Kapila (brown cow). These princes will be burnt by the anger of the great sage Kapila who is an incarnation of the Lord. The earth is destined to be broken like this and Sagara's sons are destined to be ruined. They are not blessed with full lifespan”. The eight vasuvus, the eleven rudras, the twelve Adityas, the twin Aswani Devathas and the Gandharvas felt happy upon hearing this and returned to their abodes. Sagara's sons went around the whole earth, dug it up all and went back to their father. They said, "We dug up all the earth and we killed all mighty ones like Devathas, Rakshasas, demons, kinnaras but couldn't find the horse anywhere. Please tell us what to do." Sagara was unhappy that they couldn't find the horse and he commanded them to dig deeper to the nether worlds to find the horse. The princes dug deeper till they reached rasatalam. As they were digging away, they saw a mammoth elephant called 'virupaksha' that's as big as a mountain. This great elephant was bearing the whole earth on its head. Whenever it strained its head under the great weight, the earth was shaking causing earth quakes. They bowed to that great elephant in reverence, did pradakshina (going around in reverence) to it and headed towards rasatalam. Till then they dug on the eastern side. Since they couldn't find the horse there, they started digging on the southern direction. On that side also, they saw a great elephant called 'Maha padmam' bearing the earth on its head. They bowed to that elephant also, did pradakshina and as they couldn't find the horse there, went to the western side. There they found another great elephant called 'saumanasam' bearing the earth. They did pradakshina to that elephant also and not finding the horse there, went to the northern side. There they saw another great white elephant called 'bhadram', bearing the earth on its head. They did pradakshina to that elephant and started digging in the eesanya direction (north-east). There they saw Lord in His Kapila form sitting in deep meditation. Sagaras found the Ritual-horse grazing there. They believed that he was the one who stole the horse and attacked him with spades, tridents, trees and stones. Kapila Rishi opened his eyes and looked at them in wrath and made a 'hum' sound. With the 'hum' sound and the unimaginable power of the meditation, all six thousand sons of Sagara were burnt to ashes. -To be continued- Jai Srimannarayana JET USA volunteers
