Guest guest
Who is getting all the contracts? I am sure if company like Infosys, Wipro, Tata and air-conditioning companies are approached they will be willing to provide a.c and host the e-hundi solution free of cost. I think TTD should explore these areas rather than spending crores of Rs Air-conditioning of queue complex at Tirumala begins on June 23 Thursday June 16 2005 17:09 IST TIRUPATI: The works relating to air-conditioning of the new Vaiquntam Queue Complex will commence on June 23, with Rs 4 crore. According to TTD Chairman T Subbarami Reddy, several donors had already come forward with the necessary funds. The tenders had been awarded to a private firm with the lowest bid amount. Each of the 23 compartments in second queue complex will be air-conditioned under this project. The move is aimed at avoiding inconvenience to the thousands of pilgrims during summer. According to Special Officer AV Dharma Reddy, it will cost about Rs 15 lakh to air-conditioning each of the 23 compartments. Necessary changes in the seating arrangement in the queue complex will also be made, he said. Currently each compartment accommodates up to 500 people, and the number is expected to rise even higher, once necessary changes are made. On an average the compartments are occupied for 22 hours of the day. On some occasions the pilgrims are forced to wait for 72 hours to have darshan of the Lord. Since there would be many aged people and kids among the pilgrims, the TTD Chairman felt that such an inspiring ambience will prove beneficial to the devotees. Now, download devotional songs and contribute to e-hundi Thursday June 16 2005 00:44 IST TIRUPATI: Devotees of Lord Venkateswara will soon be able to download devotional songs, composed in his praise, by various saints over the centuries, when the proposed e-business of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) comes into being. The concept, in the final stage of drafting, will enable the devotees to download audio, video and print publications of the TTD, from its website: www.tirumala.org. Needless to mention, the method of payment will be similar to that followed by any other business portal, the difference being that the proceedings will go to the temple hundi and is not profit-oriented. The audio and video CDs will consist of compositions of saint Annamacharya and Haridasa, among others. The print publications will include temple history, architecture and culture besides procedure for conduct of various rituals. The TTD archives consist of over 740 keerthanas of Annamacharya and 4,000 ‘Divya prabhandhas’, Sankeerthanas and other renderings in praise of Lord Venkateswara. The famous Srivari Suprabhatam sung by the temple priests and also by eminent carnatic musician late MS Subbulakshmi will be of special interest to the multitude of devotees. The concept, initiated by TTD Executive Officer APVN Sarma, will in particular be welcomed by those around the globe who do not have access to such religious treat. The EO has also instructed the electronics wing of the TTD to streamline the e-hundi of the temple and provide the necessary software and infrastructure.
