Guest guest
Sri Raghunandana Parabrahmane namaha! Srimathe Ramanujayanamaha!! One who keeps others happy and who is always happy is SriRama. This should be the normal nature of all human beings. Valmiki named Kaikeyi’s son as Bharatha and this name perfectly suited him as he later bore the burden of the kingdom for fourteen years after his father’s demise and Rama’s departure to forest, like a king, though actually he was not. Thus Bharatha proved his capability to ‘bear the burden’ efficiently and thus the name reflected his nature. Valmiki named Sumitra’s son as Lakshmana meaning ‘the rich’. He was fortunate to be the emperor’s son but he did not enjoy the real affluence physically. But Valmiki referred to him as Lakshmivardhana ; Lakshmisampanna. Here lakshmi does not indicate the usual world famous prosperity. Lakshmana’s fortune was his everlasting association with Sri Rama. Only Lakshmana was privileged to have that wealth. Worldly wealth is prone to be temporary but association with Bhagavan is eternal. To show us that Lakshmana had that fortune while here and there too, Valmiki named him so. His twin brother was named as Satrughna. He acquired a great title which even Rama and Lakshmana who conquered powerful enemies did not get. He can be called ‘Satrughna’ since he killed Mathura’s king LavaNa in the battle. But here enemies do not mean enemies in the ordinary sense. They mean ‘indriyas’ (senses). They never leave us. They attract mundane things and spoil our ‘manas’. Satrughna had conquered the senses. It is not just diverting the senses from wordly things. His senses got dissociated from even Bhagavan and got associated with Bhagavan’s devotee. Bharatha is Rama’s devotee. Satrughna loved Bharatha. Even though all the worlds were favouring and admiring Sri Rama, Satrughna’s indriyas never bowed before him but were only fixed on Bharatha. It’s unique to love Bhagavan’s devotees than Bhagavan Himself. It is difficult to divert our mind from mundane pleasures to Bhagavan. It is equally or more difficult to divert our manas from Bhagavan and focus on his devotees. He got this state of mind naturally. So he is Satrughna. To be continued.... Jai Srimannarayana!
