Guest guest
Dear Mr President, Mr Prime Minister and Mr Governor of Andhra Pradesh, There are more than one and half dozen news items that have appeared in Eenadu and Andhra Bhumi in the last 20 days on Hindu Mandir lands etc. I am just translating two such reports from the Telugu copy so one can understand the ways of Naidu's NAsanam and Samuel's Sarva NAsanam of Hindu Mandir lands. There is a systematic attack on Hindu Dharma. And this is one powerful way to strip our Mandirs of its support of endowed landed property. One has to keep in mind that the church is the single largest owner of real estate after the Government of India. I am not taking into account the acres and acres of land the government took away for its development works from the TTD at Tirupati and other places, and still had not paid anything. I don't know, if these reports sadden you, as it did to me as I embarked on some lousy translation. Sorry. But as a Hindu, concerned with the systematic attack on my Dharma, I wish to place a curse on record, as follows: "May the curse of all the PunAtmans who endowed their lands to these Mandirs with the fond hope that the lands would support the Hindu Dharmic activity for generations, befall on every Government official involved in this racket. May their curse destroy these officials for the next seven generations. May their lineage be broken forever". Can anyone give the details of the 350 acre lands? Lands appropriated with a "token lease" (Eenadu-Ongole dated 28 June, 2005) Nobody knows what happened to the 350 acres of land belonging to the Pushpagiri Matham in the Cuddapah District. Don't know under whose control it is today. Token lease amounts are received sporadically. There are no proper accounts even for this. There is nobody who is concerned with these lands. 350 acres in 21 Mandals The most famous Pushpagiri Matham is locatred at Vallur in Cuddapah District. It owns properties throughout the State. In 21 Mandals of Prakasam district, it owns 350 acres of land. It has landed property also in Kandukur, Tangutur, Santhanuthalapadu, Jirugumalli, Singarayakonda, Ulavapadu, Gudluru, Linkasamudram, Podili, Kanigiri, Ardhaveedu, Kambham, Giddaluru, Racharla, Markapuram, Pullalacheruvu, Peddadornala, Tripuramtakam, Hanumanthunipadu, Chirala, Varchuru Mandals. Each of these places reflect the extent of the lands, survey numbers in the village revenue records, confirming the ownership records by the Pushpagiri Matham. All the records have become history. Currently, one does not get an answer to what happened to these lands. As long as the villages had the Karnam post, the collection of the lease amounts used to be made. After that there is no news on the lands belonging to this Matham. The Supreme Court struck down the Lease Act in 2002. Even then nobody looked into the issue of the lands belonging to this Matham. These lands spread over 21 Mandals are very fertile and have a great market value. Land Survey brings this to light There was a survey of land in Gudlur Mandal recently. The survey revealed the ownership by Pushpagiri Matham of lands in Gudlur, Seetharampuram, Chevur, Peddlataripi, Chinnalataripi villages. Kandukur M.L.A, Mahidhar Reddy suggested to the officials that they should check if there are Matham lands in the neighbouring villages also. Such a survey brought to surface that in the Matham owned lands in the native village of the M.L.A-Machavaram, as also in villages like Singamanenipalle, Paluru, Chakicharla, Gundapalem, Kondamudusupalem, Peddamopadu, Cherukuru. The M.L.A suggested to the Assistant Commissioner, Endowment Sri Subba Rao that the lease should be collected to maintain the lands. The Assistant Commissioner approached the Pushpagiri Matham. Result of the Fraud by the Endowment Department Recently, the frauds by the Endowment Department have been unearthed one after the other. The officials are busy redoing the files belonging to the Endowment Department. This revealed that the Pushpagiri Matham owns on paper, lands to the extent of 350 acres in the district. The Department was worried that the lease amount and the background scam would surface. Therefore, they rushed to contact the Matham administrators. The Matham Administrators were shocked at the revelation of these endowed lands, as they had never received any lease amounts so far and were unaware of these lands. When this paper approached the Endowment Assistant Commissioner, Sri Subba Rao, he told us that they have come to know that the land was owned by the Pushpagiri Matham only recently and they have to ascertain where else the Matham has property endowed to it. He also confirmed that the recent joint auction of 40.80 acres of land, spread in three villages, by the Pushpagiri Matham and the Endowment Department yielded Rs.1.66 lakhs. He claimed that in the past the price of this property was just Rs.9,000/- He also said that he will discuss with the Matham administrators shortly to take a decision regarding the rest of the lands. My call to all those who want landed property in Bharatam: (Anybody in search of most fertile lands? At less than Rs.4000/acre. Approach AP Endowment Department with your proposals immediately. Choose a Mandir. Specify the area where you want its lands. Quote a price. Fix the "brokers" in the Endowment Department, including the Ministers, if you have direct access. You can have Mandir lands, cheap. Never before offer. But, Always available again. Because they are Hindu Mandir lands. Sorry, You lost a good bargain - It was just Rs 220/acre just recently as per Subba Rao). Item No: 2: http://www.eenadu.net/archives/archive-1-7-2005/district/districtshow1.a sp?dis=vijayawada#1 "Revenue's" Toupee on "Endowment" Doesn't give a damn to pay more than a crore. (Eenadu - Vijayawada - 1 July, 2005) It is not just ordinary citizens but also the Government is involved in defrauding the God. The Revenue Department's role in this needs special mention. Under the pretext of one or the other Government work, the department has taken Mandir lands from the Revenue department at throw-away prices and has not bothered to settle even these amounts. The department does not even consider to pay and does not bother to reply to the Endowment Department's claims. Our Staff reports from Vijayawada: Over the last ten years, the Government has taken Endowment lands (Mandir lands) to the extent of 130 acres for various government development projects. The officials decided the "price" without any regard to the market values. Even that has not been paid till date. The Endowment records reveal an estimate of Rs 1.20 crores as outstanding on this account. Their pleas for settlement resembles a feeble cry in a deep forest. In 1996, the Revenue Department took 10.98 acres of land belonging to Sri Ramalingeshwara Swami Mandir in Nandigama. The market value at that time was Rs.2 lakhs per acre. The Revenue Department said it will pay Rs 50,000 per acre. Till date no money was settled. In 1997, the Revenue Department took 3.98 acres land from the Sri Rajasekhara Swami Mandir at Avanigadda. The market value at that time was Rs. 3 Lakhs per acre. The Revenue Department decided the price as Rs 2 lakhs per acre. Not a single Rupee has been paid till date. In the same year, the Revenue Department took 2.40 acres of land belonging to the Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swami Mandir, Avanigadda. Price fixed as Rs 2 lakhs/ acre against the market price of Rs 3 lakhs/ acre. They have conveniently forgotten to settle the bill. Sometime later in the same year, they took another 16.30 acres from the same Sri Lakshmi Narayana Mandir, Avanigadda. Market value- Rs.3 lakhs/ acre. Price fixed is Rs 67,000/ acre. Not a Naya Paisa settled so far. In 1999, the Revenue Department took 8.81 acres from Sri Chennakesava Vishveshwara Mandir, Gudimetla in Chanrapadu Mandal for a price of Rs.50,000/ acre (Market value Rs. 2 lakhs/ acre). Not settled so far. In 1999 the Revenue Department took 34.70 acres of land from Sri Kalahastheeshwara Mandir at Sri Kalahasti. Price agreed for 22.70 acres was Rs 1.90 lakhs/ acre (market value Rs 3.5 Lakhs/acre) and 12 acres @ Rs. 3 Lakhs per acre (Market value Rs 5 lakhs per acre). They have conveniently forgotten to pay. Like this, the government has taken over 130 acres from different Mandirs under the control of the Endowment Department. And has conveniently gone into amnesia. The Secretary of Endowments met the District Collector recently to remind him of the outstanding payments. He has "agreed" to look into the matter. We have to wait to see when the Revenue Department will settle the Endowment Department. Namaste, S V Badri Chennai, Bharatam.
