MBA aspirants banking on Vedic mathematics magicExpress News Service Kolkata, September 15: Number crunching at breakneck speed is a crucial part of entrance examinations for MBA institutes. Students hoping to crack these demanding examinations are increasingly resorting to a novel system of mathematics to get an edge over the competition. The system in question — Vedic mathematics — has become a rage amongst MBA aspirants. “The demand for vedic maths is tremendous amongst city students. We have already trained 5,000 students in the techniques of this brilliant system. MBA candidates are finding this to be an indispensable part of their preparation,” said Gaurav Tekriwal, president, Vedic Maths Forum. Vedic mathematics is composed of ‘sutras’ formulated over centuries by Indian sages. The sutras were lost due to neglect of future generations, till they were found by Jagatguru Swami Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji Maharaja, Sankaracharya of Govardhana Matha. He compiled these sutras into one definitive book between 1911 and 1918. “Any mathematics problem, be it arithmetic, algebra, geometry or calculus, can be solved using 16 simple sutras or word formulae. Vedic maths can be used for high speed multiplication and division, for finding squares and cubes, square roots and cube roots, and for solving equations. All this is done in a matter of seconds,” explained Tekriwal. The benefit of this system is that it is 10-15 times faster than conventional mathematics. It reduces scratch work and mistakes, and cultivates an interest for numbers. It is also said to awaken the Pineal Gland to clairvoyantly ‘see’ or intuitively know the answer. “This system certainly gives students an edge over others. If one has practiced the techniques, it greatly reduces the time required to solve problems. This is of particular use in solving the data interpretation section of the CAT paper,” said Vidur Kapoor of Erudite Educational Centre. Students practicing the system are delighted with the results. “I always feared numbers, but now things have changed. I am scoring well in my simulated CAT examinations due to vedic maths. Since time management is of the essence, these techniques are crucial,” said Shiladitya Varma. A testimony to the popularity of this novel system is the fact that books on vedic mathematics are selling like hotcakes. “Students keep coming and asking for books on vedic maths. Ordinary MBA mathematics books are now in less demand,” said Jyotirmoy Poddar, the proprietor of Granthalay bookstall on College Street.
