The resolution is significant considering the stiff resistance put up by the TTD Agama pundits panel, the Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) and other organisations on the ground that it will affect the sanctity of the hills and pave the way for their commercialisation. After a prolonged discussion the board approved the over Rs. 110 crore project envisaged by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. Height restriction Taking into consideration religious sentiments, the board imposed restriction that the proposed ropeway should be taken up at a lesser altitude and not exceed the altitude of the existing hill temple. The board gave its nod for parting with one acre of land both at Tirumala and Tirupati. VIP break darshan In another significant development, the board resolved to enhance the donation to Rs. one crore from the present Rs. 50 lakhs for leasing out any land for any private individual or firm for the construction of guest house at Tirumala.
