Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: In Nachchiyar Thirumozhi 13-6, Andal refers to the Lord as "kodiya kadiya thirumAl". Nammazhvar too refers to Him as "aruLAdha thirumAlArkku" in Thiruvaymozhi 1-4-7. The earlier acharyas had explained this as "Nammazhvar is refering to Thayar ('thiru mAl') as he is thinking of Him, as She is the one who mediates on behalf of the chetanas to the Lord." Nanjeeyar had a doubt about this and asked Pillan the following question: "We need Her mediation to obtain His grace. However, here Azhvar is refering to the fact that He is not giving him His grace. So, why refer to Her at this juncture?" Pillan replied "He learned how to ignore Azhvar and torture him, from Her. Therefore, it is alright to refer to Her along with Him at this time". Nanjeeyar then checked with Bhattar about this explanation. Bhattar replied "Azhvar's state is that, to reach the Lord, one has to go through Her. Since, She is responsible for attaining the Lord, it is ok to say that Azhvar is angry with Her when He is unattainable".
