Jai Srimannarayana!

Greetings and Salutations to HH Sri Swamiji

(request from murty hari Pittsburgh,PA)

For Gods Rathostavam (like in Brahmostavam time) we take HIM for

Rathostavam--how many horses should be there for the Ratham?.

we learn that on the final day of the battle with Ravana,Indra sends his Ratham

with four horses(representing the four vedas) and Matali to Sri Rama. Sri

Krishna uses his charioteer Daruka and chariot with four horses (named

Meghapuspa,Valahaka,Saibhya,Sugriva) representing the four vedas.;

TTD reports that on Brahmostvam's Rathostvam day they bring Daruka and the four

horses for the Ratham festival.

The PURI Jagannath Temple uses four horses for each of SriKrishna,Balarama and

Subhadra Rathams for the Ratha Yatra festival (the four Vedas rerpresented?.).

In Feb 2006 ( Vol2,issue 1) BhakthiNivedana, The Spiritual monthly, in the

inside back cover ,you see the Rathostavam picture in Nasik with four horses.

*YET the TTD Ratham picture shows only 2 horses--How many horses should be

there for a Ratham and what does sastras suggest and meaning for it.?.Why does

TTD Ratham shows differently* **

I went with this question to Sri Samudrala Venkatacharyulu Garu, our priest at

SVTemple, Piitsburgh and we both felt we would get divine guidance and

enlightening answers from HH Swamiji

Thank you

Murty Hari
