Guest guest
Charles Gambetta <execdirector -- Hello Vrin, I have been a student of Vedic thought, Yoga, and Kashmir Shaivism since 1981. These studies and devotional practices have been the pillars which support my journey across the ocean of samsara (this worldy exisitence). I first read Sri Yukteshwar's book in 1982 and have read it several times since. There is much more than the discussion of Yugas to this little volume! Swamiji explains the condition in the world at the time he wrote the book (1894) by pointing out that the change from any age to the next does not happen overnight. We do not go to sleep in Kali Yuga and wake up the next morning in Dwarpara Yuga. There is a transitional period during which the effects of the departing age still linger- like the aroma of fragrant flowers after they are removed from a room. Although in the case of Kali Yuga it would probably be more like the smell of trash after it is removed from the space! >From what I have seen of the world, it is clear to me that we are just now beginning to emerge from this transitional period. Amonst all of the "bad news," I find a growing trend towards a higher level of conciousness in many people I meet. Yes, there are still an abundance of our fellow-humans who choose to continue to operate under the influence of Kali Yuga. They cannot or will not change their ways. I must also say that most of us are all to quick with our totally negative view of Kali Yuga- just as most persons unfamiliar with Mother Kali herself find her frightening and repulsive. The scriptures say that of all the ages, the goal of sahaj samadhi and release from this cycle of birth and death are most easily obtained in Kali Yuga! My Guru also said the same thing. I checked Amazon.com, and they have The Holy Science in stock. The web page says it normally ships in 24 hrs. You will also likely find it at any Self-realization Fellowship center or in many spiritually oriented bookstores. Sri Yukteshwar was a disciple of Lahiri Mahasya and Yoganandaji's Guru. He was indeed a great and compassionate Saint who is remembered as an incarnation of Divine Knowledge. I hope you enjoy the reading as much as I have.
