Dear Kailash Shrivatsa,

Namaskar! I think it is very natural that we look for a scientific

explanation for these phenomena which are depicted in Mahabharat. May I run

a point or two by you.

When the British first went to India, they deciphered Sanskrit and

translated the Puranas. ( You never should have let those people into your

country. We kicked them out of ours, beginning with that Cornwallis fellow.

Anyway, that is a different story ) So when they investigated the

narrations, they discovered descriptions which were either wild-eyed and

utterly preposterous, or actual descriptions of the technologies of demigod

civilisation. For example, they noted comments about flying machines, guided

arrows and weapons launched by mantras.Nowadays we have seen the advent of

similar technologies such as aircraft, guided missles and voice activated

weapons. But in the meantime, the mundane wranglers used these apparent

inconsistencies to bash and undermine Vedic culture and religion. This is

what we cannot do; just because things are presented which are outside of

our comprehension, we cannot start concluding that this literature and that

one is poppycock. The jury is still out.

There are also astronomical descriptions which are hard to understand. In

his books Vedic Cosmography and also Alien Identities, Dr. Richard L.

Thompson goes a long way towards justifying puranic descriptions, especially

the astronomical comments, in terms of modern science. The books of Dr.

Thompson may be perused at: www.afn.org/~bvi

The hollow planets concept could go a long way towards explaining puranic

comments to the effect of civilisation existing on all the planets. Perhaps

the civilisations described exist primarily within the planets. A decent

article in this regard would be one of my own, this one being about Hollow

Venus. Please remember to rate the article at the bottom. And you might need

to expand the picture to follow the curvature.

I look forward to more conversations in this regard.
