Dear Prof. Ram Sing,

It maybe very interesting to have something akin to ball where each may

choose a fashion style or tradition such as Gujarati or Punjabi or Bengali

attire (all different of course) so we can have a nice cross section of

Indian fashion. It may sound a little frivolous, but such things are

certainly great for PR to both the general public and the Indian community.

I was really surprised by the warm reception and joy actually from most

everyone when I wore a dhoti and kurta the day I gave my presentation. In

short, I think it adds to the reconfirmation of both the Indian and Vedic

identity as much for its heritage as for its relevancy to contemporary Indian

dress and growing Western fashion interest.

As one Mataji professor told my fiancee about seeing me in a dhoti and Kurta:

"It's very romantic." It's much like a Westerner would feel seeing people

dressed in old Victorian/European custom. It adds to the sense of

eventfulness and authenticity.
