Guest guest
RSS body `lauds' missionaries HT Correspondent (Nagpur, September 23) VIDYA BHARATI, one of the important organisations of the RSS, has finally recognised the "zeal of the Christian missionaries to devote their selfless services in an unfriendly atmosphere". Vidya Bharati, which runs more than 16,000 schools with 20 lakh students on the rolls around the country with the aim of "developing a nation of proud Hindus", has always been critical of the style of working of the Christian missionaries. But now they have called upon their students to learn from their spirit and faith "so that the enemies in the clashes of civilisation could be defeated". Lajjaram Tomar, the head of Vidya Bharati, while addressing the National Executive of the organisation at Smriti Mandir in Reshimbagh, appreciated the sacrifices made by the missionaries. He requested the members to learn from them instead of criticising them unnecessarily. Criticising the present education system, he said that the aim of the organisation was to formulate a National Education Policy, which could be presented before the government with the hope that it would be adopted in practice. "Its sole purpose would be to create a generation of Hindus", he said. Mr Tomar appreciated the steps taken by the Union HRD Minister, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi for "improving the education system and correcting the history by rewriting it". He said that the organisations like NCERT, ICHR and ICSSR had started a campaign against RSS but the Union Minister has succeeded in marginalising them
