Lieutenant Colonel Thakur Kuldip S Ludra (Retd.) is the Founder

Member and Former Deputy Director Strategic Research Centre Director,

Institute for Strategic Research and Analysis.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Thakur Kuldip S. Ludra (Retd.)

 

Lieutenant Colonel Thakur Kuldip S. Ludra (Retd.) was commissioned on

6 June 1954. His first Unit was 2 (Derajat) Mountain battery

(Frontier Force). The senior most Piffer unit in the Indian Army.

 

The Battery was a part of 22 Mountain Regiment, the Corps D'Elite of

the Indian Army. He was the Brigade Major of an Artillery Brigade

from August 1965 to March 1968. He was later the General Staff

Officer Grade II of a Corps Artillery Brigade from February 1972 to

June 1975. He took part in the 1962 Operations as an Observation Post

Officer, at Bomdila. He was the Second-in-Command of the Heavy

Regiment during the 1971 Operations. He retired on 30 June 1986.

 

Currently, he is the Director of Institute for Strategic Research and

Analysis, a Non Government Organisation. He is the founder member and

former Deputy Director of Strategic Research Centre which he along

with Major General Rajendra Nath and some interested Service

Officers, IAS and Police Officers as well as academicians, helped set

up in June 1996.

 

He took to writing on Service matters after retirement. Apart from a

number of articles in Defence Magazines, like the Indian Defence

Review, Defence Today and the Strategic Analysis, he has also written

the following books:

 

 

Understanding War: Its Implications and Effects.

Pakistan India's Bete Noire. A Critical Analysis of Pakistan's

Capability and Intentions. The author's analysis are so true that he

was able to say that the Kargil war would happen at the time it

happened.

'Operation Pawan.' A Critical Analysis of the Sri Lankan Operations

Defence of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. An assessment of threat from

China, USA and Pakistan including it's gun and drug running.

At present he is involved in a study of the operations of the Inter

Services Intelligence Directorate of Pakistan
