Guest guest
Israel may help India over J&K terrorism HT Correspondent (Hyderabad, January 10) ISRAEL IS willing to exchange notes with India in tackling terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres has said. Peres denied at a Press conference that India sought Israeli help in tackling militancy in Kashmir. "India does not need our help. If India wants, it can compare notes with us. Israel also faced the problem of terror. There is no simple method to stop terror," he pointed out. Peres also dispelled the notion that India was tilting towards Israel while it had pro-Arab bias in the past. "You don't have to take sides of either parties. You have to take the side of peace. By strengthening ties with Israel, India can contribute more to peace," he said. He said India could draw upon Israel's experience in tackling terrorism, which was more sickening than a war. There were four dimensions to the problem of terrorism: military, diplomatic, economic and emotional. "The military aspect is becoming insignificant because you can lose wars on TV rather than on the battlefield," he quipped. The Nobel Peace laureate felt that the diplomatic dimension was also becoming less and less impressive because the best foreign office could be the CNN. ---- ----------
