Guest guest
Druze Leaders in India By Tusti Mohan Krishna Dasa Many members of the Druze Community in the Holy land of Galilee are in India visiting some holy places and searching for their roots, which they believe are here. They found that there are many similarities between the Doctrine of the Druze and the Vedic culture, basically about reincarnation of the Soul and the Five truths, (Divine Universal principles). The Druze religion has many members in the Middle East Countries (Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Palestine) The Leader of the Group is Sheikh Hussein Aburukn, who is a member of the Supreme board for the religious affairs of the Druze Community. He was accompanied by 11 members who are coming to explore more about the Vedic knowledge and had the opportunity to meet with spiritual leaders in the State of West Bengal. They were hosted by ISKCON during their visit to Mayapur. The Druze Leaders were officially received by many Hindu- Vaisnava Leaders, in a ceremony on the day of the Gaur-Purnima Festival 2001, (March, 9th). There were exchange of gifts in where they were impressed by the similarity in the colors of their flag (green, yellow, blue, red and white) and the Pavitra from one of the Vaisnavas. They were welcomed by several ISKCON leaders, including His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaja, His Holiness Mahavishnu Swami, His Holiness Subhag Maharaja and Bhakti Purusottama Swami coordinator of the festival of Gaura Purnima 2001. The Druze leaders had good association and had different meetings to inquire about India and visited many holy places in the Nine Islands of Sri Navadwipa Dham. In Jagannath Puri they were received by His Majesty the King of Puri Divya Singh Deva and many scholars and pandits. During the meeting there was a special session of questions and answers about different aspects of the absolute truth and different incarnations of the Supreme Lord. The Druze leaders are planning to stay many days more in India and will visit other parts and cultures in India including the Dalai Lama and the Sikh community in Amristar. Please see the attached pictures about all the activities of the Druze leaders.
