Guest guest
News of the midnight massacre of Nepal's royal family has left the region in stunned silence . As we all know, India-Nepal relations have been formed and shaped by the fact that they were once a united entity and shared a common socio-cultural Hindu identity throughout their historical past. Even after the British had divided the two regions, the geo-strategic location of Nepal between India and China had made it an extremely important neighbor and ally. India has always considered Nepal as a buffer between itself and Communist China. It is not only the ideological differences with China that alarm India but also the Chinese efforts to undermine India's security interests by undertaking road construction projects in Terai area which is contiguous to the plains of India. In fact, soon after Communist China's expansion towards Tibet, India entered into the Treaty of Peace and Friendship with Nepal in 1950 which defined the political, economic and strategic relations between the two countries. The Chinese expansion towards Tibet had perturbed Nepal as it not only exposed China's historical claims of maintaining the Himalayan state as its feudatory but also Nepal's vulnerability in containing any armed aggression from the north. Since then Nepal and India have shared open borders. But in recent years this open border has been misused by the criminals, smugglers and terrorists who take refuge in Nepal after committing crimes in India. Arms and drugs have also been moving from Nepal to India. The open border is used by the ISI to facilitate movement of the Kashmiri terrorists to carry out anti-India activities. There are various Muslim organizations in Nepal engaged in imparting education to the religious minorities with the help of financial aid coming from Pakistan and the Gulf. They are also involved with the terrorist organizations to carry out anti-Nepal activities. Documents have been discovered which prove that the Islamic Yuva Sangh of Nepal is working to establish Islam in Nepal and Nizam-E- Mustafa (Rule of the Prophet) in the country. This Muslims are also doing their best, with the help of Islamic countries, to increase the gap between the Hindus and the Buddhists so that they become disunited and Islam emerges as the strongest religion of Nepal. Though it is not yet possible for them to turn a Hindu majority state into a Muslim state, their strategy has revolved around creating social tension so that external interference can influence events. The anti-India Jihadis are clustered in the Terai region of Nepal which is adjacent to the densely populated Muslim areas of UP and Bihar from where ISI operates its network of smuggling, movement of bombs, weapons and drugs. Thus, India and Nepal cannot ignore the geo- political implications of this tragedy. Extreme caution and meticulous investigations must be undertaken to try and ascertain the facts behind the Royal family's assassination. This incident may very well be one of the carefully orchestrated chess moves made by the Communist regime of China in collaboration with Pakistan, its terrorist vassal state. The Nepalese have already been thrown into an atmosphere of distrust and foreboding. Such an environment is ripe for rumors. Troublemakers can start rumors and point accusing fingers at the Koirala government which is perceived as Pro-India. Throwing Nepal into chaos is in the best interests of both Pakistan and China and the Nepalese Royal Family's assassination could become a catalytic spark in whipping up anti-India feelings. If they succeed then the real plan will soon be set into motion. For India's sake let's hope the powers that be in Delhi have woken up from their stupor. This is no time for complacency and talk of peace, but rather the opportune moment to prepare the country's defenses for any misadventure that may be likely to happen in the near future. Let's not forget that it was against the backdrop of the last "peace- trip" to Lahore that Pakistan ventured into our territory. If we are not alert, India will find itself face to face with a far bigger version of Kargil during this peace meeting. Our Islamic terrorist neighbor has a history of carrying a dagger within the folds of its peace declarations.
