"Anyone ever watch the movie Manchurian Candidate? Rent it, if you haven't..

If The report below is accurate, this is classic case of a triggered response

probably activated by a telephone call etc. Another theory is the Crown prince

was quicly killed and replaced by a look a like who did the shooting. Anyway

there is no doubt that this was a planned assasination."

"The crown prince slipped out of the gathering around 9:00 pm.

"A short while later, he reappeared, wearing an army uniform, his cap

pulled low over his face and an Uzi submachine gun and an M-16

assault rifle in his hands," the Post said.

"He said nothing at all throughout the whole episode and there was no

expression whatever on his face," the relative told the

newspaper. "He just fired indiscriminately."

Washington, June 6

Nepal's Crown Prince Dipendra first shot his father, King Birendra,

and then mowed down other relatives with an Uzi submachine gun and an

M-16 assault rifle during a 15-minute rampage, the Washington Post

reported Wednesday.

The newspaper, citing an immediate relative of a member of the royal

family who was an eyewitness to Friday night's shootings, published

the first detailed account of the massacre at the royal palace in

Kathmandu.

Dipendra, 29, was tending bar that evening, mixing drinks before the

family sat down for their usual Friday night dinner, the unidentified

relative told the Post and Times of London in a joint interview.

The crown prince slipped out of the gathering around 9:00 pm.

"A short while later, he reappeared, wearing an army uniform, his cap

pulled low over his face and an Uzi submachine gun and an M-16

assault rifle in his hands," the Post said.

The crown prince first shot his father who was sitting in an adjacent

room.

"Through the open door, a witness 'could see the king's face with

utter astonishment on it,'" it said.

Eight other members of the royal family were killed and three others

were wounded before Dipendra finally shot himself. He died on Monday

after two days in a coma.

Nepalese officials initially accused the crown prince of the slayings

before retracting their comments and claiming the massacre was the

result of the accidental discharge of an automatic weapon.

Nepal's new king, Dipendra's uncle, Gyanendra, has created a

commission to investigate the massacre and promised to reveal its

findings.

The Post said that after killing his father, Dipendra sprayed bullets

through the sitting rooms of the palace for 15 minutes.

Guests were stunned and "remained where they stood or sat as bullets

flew around them and victims fell to the floor," it said.

"He said nothing at all throughout the whole episode and there was no

expression whatever on his face," the relative told the

newspaper. "He just fired indiscriminately."

At one point, Dipendra's mother, Queen Aishwarya, and his younger

brother, Prince Nirajan, followed him into the garden, the Post

said. "That's when they got shot," the relative told the newspaper.

When Dipendra went back inside his uncle, Dhirendra, pleaded to him

to stop saying "Put the gun down; you've done enough damage," the

Post said.

"That's when he got shot," it said, adding the crown prince then

gunned down an aunt and a cousin who rushed over to help Dhirendra.

Dipendra finally went back out into the garden. More shots were heard

and "that must have been the time he was shooting himself," the

relative said.

There has been speculation the rampage was triggered by an argument

between the crown prince and his mother, Queen Aishwarya, over his

desire to desire to get married.

But the relative of the eyewitness said there was no argument, no

discussion of the prince's wedding plans or any indication before the

shootings that anything was wrong.

"Why he did it, we may never know, but this is actually what

happened," the relative said. "It was a routine Friday night and it

all went wrong."
