Madhva Leader Gives Support To Gaudiya Sampradaya

BY NANDA KISORA DASA

USA, Jun 3 (VNN) — Following an 'official' statement issued by the

Purnaprajna Vidyapitha in Bangalore (see VNN Story 6750) questioning

the validity of the Gaudiya sampradaya and criticizing Srila A.C.

Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the chancellor of the Vidyapitha and

senior-most leader of the Madhva sampradaya, H.H. Visvesa Tirtha

Swami of Pejavara Matha, has written the following letter:

"We are rather perturbed to come across an article said to contain a

statement issued by Purnaprajna Vidyapitha about Madhva and Gaudiya

Sampradayas.

----

----------

"...just as Bhagiratha brought the Ganga to India, Swami Prabhupada

brought the Bhakti-Ganga to the whole world."

----

----------

We have been emphasizing time and again that even though there are

certain differences in a few aspects of the two sampradayas, there

are many more common grounds and the Gaudiya Sampradaya is a part of

Madhva Sampradaya. We have great regard for Prabhupada who has spread

Vaisnava Bhakti Siddhanta throughout the world.

We have been admiring him on various occasions also. We are pained to

find that the article denigrates Prabhupada and is against our

opinion and philosophy.

The whole issue will be reviewed and in our capacity as the

chancellor of Purnaprajna Vidyapitha, a message will be shortly

published to strengthen the mutual harmonious relationship between

the Sampradayas."

Sri Sri Vishvesa Tirtha Swamiji

In a recent meeting, Pejavara Swami glorified Srila Prabhupada,

stating again that, "just as Bhagiratha brought the Ganga to India,

Swami Prabhupada brought the Bhakti-Ganga to the whole world." This

video clip may be found online: http://www.gosai.com/dvaita/udupi/

Other leaders of the Madhva sampradaya have also written letters of

support and appreciation, which may be found at the same URL, along

with English transcriptions.
