Guest guest
This Story proves that Pakistan and India are All One People. Down memory lane for the General >From Kalyan Ray DH News Service NEW DELHI, July 14 Octogenarian Anaro, who used to work as a domestic help in Neharwali Haveli in the Old Delhi about half-a-century ago, is indeed a satisfied lady today. After a long-wait, she ultimately had a chance to embrace the son of the house - the visiting Pakistan President General Musharraf - who set aside all protocols for the old lady. Anaro was the only local person, apart from the officials and dignitaries, with whom Gen Musharraf spent a few minutes and asked generally about her well-being and health. Last time when the 80-year- old Anaro saw the Pakistan president, he was a toddler. Her repeated embracing and hugging did not cause any concern among the security persons who were also enjoying the rare casual mood of the Pak president. Talking to reporters after the cavalcade left Old Delhi, the maid who lives in the nearby slum area, said that she was happy to see a lost man coming home. However, barring the brief encounter with the old maid, the homecoming of the Gen Musharraf was a formal event in which he was shown the old mansion more in photographs and maps than bricks by a host of dignitaries including Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Vijai Kapoor, local MP Vijay Goel of BJP and MLA Shoaib Iqbal from Janata Dal who incidentally was the first Indian politician to hug Gen Musharraf. The leader did not have any time for the hosts, the Jain family who made an elaborate preparation for its brief moment of glory. The old mansion belonged to Gen Musharraf's great grandfather and he left the house when he was only a kid. Dressed in a casual blue shirt and trouser, the president spent about 25 minutes in the building during which he journeyed down memory lane, courtesy an impressive photo display.
