Re: HE in the Puranas

HARE KRISHNA !

SRI SRI GURU and Gauranga ki jaya !

Dear Dharmapada Dasa.

Please accept my obeisances.

While in Nepal, i had the opportunity to question many

Nepalese and Tibetan Buddhists regarding Buddhist-

Vaishnava and Shaivite connections. Traveling from

Pokhara to India, i actually swam in a spring-filled volcano

crater high in the foothills of the Himalayas where it should

have been nearly impossible for one to form. Having an

interest in geology and especially plate tectonics and

continental 'drift' / spread, i was particularly interested in

local ideas about the creation of the Kathmandu Valley,

which according to legend was once an inland sea like the

Mediterranean. Buddhist Tradition describes how Lord

Manjushri cleft the mountains with His sword, releasing the

water and creating the Kathmandu Valley. Other legends

credit the Ogress Mother of the Nepalese with a similar

feat. The sacred peak Macchapuchara (MATSYA'S FIN) is

associated with the Manu Flood Epic, which is somewhat

locally confused with the Inland Sea / Flooded Kathmandu

Valley tradition. Altogether, there are many interesting

stories in the region concerning the Great Flood, caverns

and possibly volcanos (truely hollow Earth), flying

mountains, the Inland Sea and other geological curiosities.

'Shangri La' is generally considered to be a variant of the

word SHAMBALA. All of the Nepalese and Tibetans i

spoke with insisted that Shambala was 'deep in the

Himalayas' meaning REMOTE and hidden, not underground.

On your site you denounce the Anglo-Germanic distortion of

Indian history. But then you go on to base your own

understanding on the very foundations of proto-nazi Aryo-

sophic thought. You begin your own theorizing with several

ideas which are purely racist Aryo-sophic interpretations of

Vaishnava sources. ARYAN or ARYA in the ancient world

refered to people who worshiped the Supreme Lord HARI, or

to 'gods' who were Forms of, or Servants of HARI. ' Aryan' is

just another version of words like Hurrian, Elohim, Syrian,

Hellene, Erin, Suragana, Hari jana, Haryana etc. African

devotees were HRYM and Semitic / Jewish devotees were

ELYM. It is the Anglo-Germanic racists who invented the

idea that the 'Aryans' were exclusively the blond race.

If you were familiar with the developement of proto-nazi

'esoteric' Aryo-sophic thought, you would recognize its

Anglo-Germanic lodges' sub-text running through the

pseudo-Buddhist & Hindu 'Aryanist' sources currently

popular with the 'hollow Earth' theorists. I accept the

Scriptures too, but i don't interpret them through 200 years

of Northern European Racist Esoterica.

The 'bowels of the Earth' and references to Rishis living

there, or surface people visiting there, are common

throughout the ancient world wherever there are caves or

caverns, or the cultural memory of such. Ascetics who did

not build homes or light fires especially liked to live in the

Earth, because of the natural shelter, water, and more

moderate temperatures some caves or caverns provided.

The term 'middle' / Madhya is in reference to sur-face FACE

land-mass. Madhya is used like 'interior' meaning the

'middle' of the Sahara, or the 'interior' of the Amazonian Rain

Forest, or the middle / interior of the Indian Sub-Continent.

Most cultures have a geographic sense about where the

'middle' of their country or geographical region is. Most

ancient cultures in or from cavernous regions also have

traditions about their people once inhabiting the

underground. This still has nothing to do with the core or

center of the Planet. Great caverns which extend for miles

exist in both the Eastern and Western Hemispheres, but

these have nothing to do with a gross material paradisi-

cal realm at the core of the Earth. Of course, the Lord can

put a gross material paradisical realm anyplace He wants !

I just don't see any Shastric evidence that he put one in the

core of the Earth Planet we live on. Furthermore, the

pervasive standard use of terms like MADHYA, 'MIDDLE' /

MEDI, and INTERIOR / INNER to describe surface locations

in the ancient world argues against any other meaning like

CORE. Caves, volcano tubes, subterranean river courses,

and great caverns were all often considered to be the

'bowels' of Mother Earth.

It is interesting to note that in the Christian New Testament

Book of the Apocalypse ( "The Revelation" to Protestants )

in Chapter 6, verse 15 it describes the Earth's inhabitants

hiding from the wrath of the Lord " in the dens and in the

rocks of the mountains". If one reads this Scripture (like

the Septuagint and Apocrypha ) in the original Greek, it is

clearly a Vaishnava Shastra. In the Apocryphal Book of

Second Machabees, Chapter 3, The Lord appeared as a

Theophany of Kalki in the Great Temple in Jerusalem, to

chastise an ambassador desecrating the Sanctuary.

(Immediately afterward, God also appeared as Krishna and

Balarama !) Messianic Jews expected Him to return in the

same wrathful horse-mounted Form at the end of the 'AION'.

'AION' in Greek is cognate with Sanskrit Yugam and means

AGE. So, both the Eastern and the Mediterranean Vedic

Traditions associate the wrathful horse-mounted Form of the

Lord with the end of the age. Both describe remnant

survivors of the human race hiding in the Earth.

It is always enlivening to contemplate Shastra, and to

discuss the 'Vedas' with other devotees. The word used for

God's revealed Knowledge in the Hebrew 'Old Testament' is

YEDA. In the Greek Jewish and Christian Scriptures it is

OIDA (the Greeks had no 'V' then), and Krishna says 'by all

of the vedas am I to be known'. Whatever Godhead has

revealed, and our Acharyas of East or West have passed on

to us, should be preserved, honored and passed-on by us,

just as we have received it. Preserving Sacred Tradition

does not mean that we are not supposed to think about it

or discuss it in an intelligent and penetrating / rational way.

A lively discourse is challenging to the intellect, and to one's

character as well. It IS possible to strongly disagree with

someone, and still behave in a civilized manner ! My

comments have not been intended to offend or discourage

you in your studies, but rather to encourage you to consider

some different angles of vision. Especially i would

encourage you to study the Aryanist 'esoteric' influences on

the sources of the racial ideas you have innocently aquired.

Many devotees have aquired such ideas from Aryo-sophic

sources, which they have innocently studied, in a quest for

'higher knowledge'. Being unaware of the covered mundane

racism and mayavad world-view pervading Anglo-Germanic

esoterica, many devotees have suffered serious injury to

their spiritual lives from absorbing themselves in it.

Consider your sourses.

Best wishes,

your aspiring servant, Bhakti Ananda Goswami

HE in the Puranas

Dear Bhakti Anand Swami,

I have read you comments on the Vedica list and, of course, I fully accept that

the Vedic culture is the source of all cultures. I like the writings, for

example, of PN Oaks.

I accept the version of the Puranas that, at the end of the kali yuga, the

surface of the Earth is re-populated by what's left of Vedic culture in the

city of Shambhala, in the madhyatah, the hollow Earth. May I direct your

attention to my article The Hollow Earth and the Aryan Invasion Re-Defined?

Yours,

Dharmapada Dasa
